Self-Help through the "Temporal Tap"

I was first exposed to the “Temporal Tap” in an Applied Kinesiology workshop in 1976. Rumor has it that it was historically used by the ancient Chinese to control unruly children. I have read what little material is available on it, and would say that the exact neurological mechanism by which it works is a matter of speculation, as is the origin of the approach. Having taught it to thousands of people and used it extensively myself over the years, the one thing I can say is that it is a very effective technology for changing habits by aligning the will with brain circuitry. It works well for most people and is completely safe.
Here is some information about the wording for the temporal tap instructions. Keep in mind that the left side of the head is for positively phrased instructions and the right side is for negatively phrased instructions. Try to use first person (“I” language), and to compose your suggestions in the present tense. When tapping, start just behind the eyes and tap briskly in a backward arch over the top of the ear to the back of the ear. You can repeat the tapping motion a few times WHILE repeating the suggestion you wish to make to yourself. You can make these suggestions aloud or silently.

Be creative. Think of how you would like for things to be in your life; or about how you would prefer to think, believe or act in your life that would feel better than what is true right now. Design your wording to cause you to shift in the direction you'd like to go. There are always many possible right choices of wording.
