How Muscle Testing Speeds Your Healing Progress
by Dr. Stuart C. Marmorstein
During any given session, we may use any number of healing techniques, including Bio Cranial Therapy, CranioBiotic Technique or Korean Hand Therapy. The one approach we always employ is Muscle Response Testing (MRT), also known as Applied Kinesiology.

MRT allows us to find out whether you have a tendency to "hold onto" changes we make through our treatment, or whether you are more likely to lose these changes.

Many of us are neurologically unstable because of injuries and traumas we have sustained. While this condition is usually capable of being corrected in the office if we are aware of it, we may assume that everything is OK if we don't routinely test for it.

After a physical or emotional shock to the system, the brain and body often fail to communicate with each other as they should, causing therapeutic changes to be temporary rather than long term.

MRT also allows us to discover whether muscles that support the neck, back, hips, shoulders and other parts are working properly and balanced with each other. For example, if the same muscle attaches to the right and left sides of a section of vertebrae (spinal segments); and one side is pulling more strongly than the other, the spine may deviate to one side, causing a scoliosis. When we correct the muscle imbalance, the posture can quickly improve.

Muscle weakness in the lower back can also cause the back to ache because the muscles have to strain to keep the person upright when they sit or stand. Many patients with fibromyalgia have chronically tight neck and shoulder muscles. Why? These muscles have been "turned off" for months or years, and the weight of the head causes constant strain. After a while, the muscles actually become more fibrous and less elastic. Fortunately, this condition is reversible with treatment.

If you suspect that any of what we discussed above may apply to you, please call our office at 713.831.6875.

Finally, MRT can be used to determine whether a particular kind of treatment is most appropriate for you during a given session. If you need a specific chiropractic adjustment, a Bio Cranial correction, an allergy treatment or some other specific type of work, MRT can guide us in the right direction so that you get what you need the most during our valuable time together.

Our Website Evolves
by Dr. Stuart C. Marmorstein, Webmaster
You can now view or recommend our video about the Bio Cranial System directly on the web without having to download it first. This is also true of the CranioBiotic Technique video.

Part of our mission has to improve the quality of the educational material available on the Head to Foot website. This includes making sure that you can watch our video material and listen to our audio material without having to first download media players. You can now watch and listen online with 98% of the web browsers in current usage. The only exception to this now is a radio interview on the home page that needs to be downloaded because it is too long to stream.

Our Published Works page has many informative articles in .PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format. We include a link on that page to download the FREE Acrobat Reader.

Subscribing to and unsubscribing from our newsletter is now easy and automatic: There is no longer any need to send an email to us to perform these tasks. You can also email us directly through the website. This is now the most reliable way to get email to us.

Finally, by automating the process of sending these newsletters, we'll be able to send new and relevant information to you more often.

A Safety Tip: Use Your Car Keys

Keep your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to break into your house just press the panic button for your car. This will set off the alarm and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. Most criminals will flee the scene before they inflict any harm. This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator.

November Schedule Changes:
During Thanksgiving week, our office will be open Monday, Nov. 19 through Wednesday, Nov. 21. We will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and the Friday that follows it.

We will also be open on Wednesday, Nov. 14 instead of Friday, Nov. 16 because Dr. Marmorstein will be treating the rock band, America.
