Dusting off the Lamp and Finding the Treasure: Lighting the Way with Cranial Laser Reflex Technique

I caught my first glimpse of the treasure map in 1976, as a young chiropractic student. It was in my first Applied Kinesiology book by Dr. David Walther. Only problem was, I didn't know it was a treasure map!

One section contained pictures of skulls with pathways drawn on their surfaces. Each pathway was related to a muscle, or to part of the body's bony structure.

Frankly, I didn't think much of it at the time. There are acupuncture meridian points all over the body, as well as Chapman, Bennett, Riddler and other reflex systems. These "Cranial Stress Receptors" just didn't seem to be that significant. Not compared with spinal and cranial adjusting.

A generation later, my friend and colleague changed my mind. Dr. Norman Price said to me, "Stuart, you ought to check this out."

Having known "Nap" for about seven years from the Bio Cranial teaching circuit, I valued his opinion. We had both been teaching about the power of releasing tension in the Dura Mater, a lining within the skull that connects to the spine. We built our practices on this big idea.

Now, he was saying that a young chiropractor from Spartanburg, South Carolina was firing lasers at what he called Cranial Reflex Pathways on the skull's surface. For what? Read on.

The Whippersnapper's Revelation

Nicholas Wise, D.C. always carried a portable cold laser with him when he traveled. His best friend's wedding day was no exception. His friend, a medical doctor, had a painful calf injury that included a large swollen area.

Dr. Nick decided to try his laser on the knot. It reduced immediately by 50%. Then a strange idea occurred to him: Why not use the laser on a cranial reflex that went with the injured muscle?

When he followed his intuition, the knot...and the pain...disappeared! He continued to research the phenomenon, and developed a professional level course once he knew that he could get consistent results.

Of course, even after Nap recommended the course, I had to check it out myself. I watched about ten YouTube videos of Dr. Nick's patients go from major pain to little or no pain within minutes.

Week One Using CLRT with My Own Patients

What choice did I have? I took the course, studied my butt off, dusted off my laser and got to work. Here are some of my early results:

  • Strong TMJ (jaw joint) pain and tension melting away.
  • Patients with residual post-surgical low back pain feeling better than they had in years.
  • Spinal adjustments happening with little or no force.

I can't help but agree with Nap: We're SO FORTUNATE as to able to combine CLRT with our other cranial work--the Bio Cranial System and TFT22, in my case. Could it be that looking at old reflexes (literally) in a new light can really help almost anyone with either acute or chronic pain? I'm beginning to think so!

Quick Schedule Change Reminder

During the week of Monday, October 19, I'll be seeing patients on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. After that, the office will be closed until the following Tuesday, October 27. Please book your appointments early.

Thanks, as always, for reading what I write and recommending my services.

Yours in and for good health,

Stuart C. Marmorstein, D.C., D.B.C.S.
