The Ever-Changing World of Healing
Does the world change? You betcha! During my childhood, we had three black-and-white TV channels. I had already been in practice as a chiropractor for a dozen years before it was common for small businesses to have their own computers. No Google or Twitter back then. Windows was new.
As I've become more aware of how the increasing complexity of our world affects our health, a few things are becoming obvious to me. I'll cover a few of them in this newsletter.
- Getting well and staying well isn't as simple or as easy as it used to be. But...we have more available to us than ever before to help us be healthy and fit.
- Testing for real conditions that can impact our well-being may sometimes require outside lab work. While we can get many useful clinical answers about functional problems through kinesiology or muscle testing, we sometimes need to know specific or relative levels of certain hormones, severity of a food intolerance.
- It is critical for practitioners to exchange information with one another on a regular basis.Technology changes, research can challenge old assumptions and knowledgeable practitioners can share information and help each other. Some examples: 1) Hip and knee replacement surgery are more successful than they used to be. 2) We have longer term studies about the effects of hormone replacement therapy. 3) Numerous professionals I've met at seminars or through seminars I've taken and reading I've done are happy to advise me about patients with unusual problems, and have offered to do so.
The ACN Program: Applied Clinical Nutrition
For those of you who don't know, I have been involved in the Applied Clinical Nutrition Certification Program for several years. Clinical Nutrition is an important part of my approach to health care for my patients. It is supported by a growing body of scientific research. The collective wisdom and knowledge of the faculty has helped me to help you with more skill and more speed.
The A.C.N. Program is being offered through Texas Chiropractic College and Standard Process of Central Texas, Inc, and approved by the American Naturopathic Certification Board, the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, and the Texas board of Acupuncture Examiners. This Program is open to all health professionals, staff, and students. The Program offers a viable credential as an Applied Clinical Nutritionist.
I hope to complete the A.C.N. Program this year. It occasionally means closing the the office early on a Friday or shifting the office schedule for a week, but I believe it will add value to what I have to offer my patients. Of course my education as a healer will never be completed, even after I receive the A.C.N. designation.
Protect Yourself and Help Others Around the World?
Twenty-one years ago, I spent two years working with underprivileged people in India. Getting malaria is no privilege, believe me! I thank God I never came down with this disease when I was there, but many people living there and in poorer parts of the world do. In fact, malaria is TODAY the Number One killer worldwide.
U.S. citizens who believe they live in a clean and safe environment are sadly deluded. We have parasites here, too; just different ones. We also have plenty of garden variety germs.
An inventor and engineer named Jim Humble found an inexpensive way to help people in the Third World and in our world to combat pathogenic organisms. This "Miracle Mineral Solution" is not considered a nutritional supplement, but is called a water purification product.
He has distributed it to 75,000 people around the world who have become fr.ee from malaria. Mr. Humble is healthy and in his late 70s. People with other conditions that may be associated with a bad internal environment have also found his water purification drops to be helpful.
He lives outside of the U.S. and is dedicating his time to getting out information about MMS and helping to make it available to poor people who need it.
Here is a link to some downloadable MMS e-books written by Jim Humble.
Part I is a fr.ee download, and Part II is very inexpensive (about $12.95) and indispensible if you are thinking about using the stuff. There are lots of links to fr.ee information, but if you decide to purchase any information from the site, I may be compensated. I do not receive compensation if you buy MMS or MMS2.
Mineral-Solutions sells it. You can watch a brief video at this site:
http://mineral-solutions.net and order from the MMS1 link in the left-hand column.
Please let me know what you experience if you decide to try it. I am making NO medical claims for the stuff! My family and I like to take it and feel better doing so. I'm just saying...
Helping Others Find My Practice
A high percentage of my new patients find me on Google and other search engines. Primarily Google.
Google has a way to make my listing show up when searching chiropractic on the map. It takes a simple review from you. I show up number one if you search Head to Foot, or "holistic chiropractor houston" or "cranial chiropractor houston" --- but not as well if you type in just Houston chiropractic. Could you do me a favor and write a brief review including Houston, Texas in the review. Use your mouse to highlight all five stars, assuming you think I deserve them :-) I made it easy to find my listing with this link. Thank you in advance --- Give 'em Health!
