A Tailor-Made Program for You

George Bernard Shaw
The only man who behaved sensibly was my tailor;
he took my measurement anew every time he saw me,
while all the rest went on with their old measurements
and expected them to fit me.

George Bernard Shaw
Irish Playwright 1856-1950

The weekend before last, I returned to Dallas for a wonderful seminar and workshop called The Essentials of Nutritional Therapy. The teacher, Dr. Jay Robbins, taught us so much that it took much of last weekend to review my notes and prepare to use the information with my patients.

One size does NOT fit all! Our nutritional needs vary with age, sex and digestive integrity.

One test we did was a test for calcium deficiency. It was a new test for me, and was very simple to perform. The patient sits on a table while the doctor puts a blood pressure cuff around the calf and pumps it up. While it is normal to feel pressure, it is not normal to feel cramping or pain when the pressure is under 200 millibars of mercury. A high percentage of the doctors taking the class failed the test!

What was fascinating was that there were so many DIFFERENT REASONS for those failures. Very few had low calcium because of low calcium in the diet. Some had poor digestion. Without enough stomach acid, the body can't use calcium. Others had trouble because of low Vitamin B1 or zinc levels. Some had hormone imbalance as the biggest factor. Some couldn't move the calcium because of gall bladder trouble affecting their ability to process essential fatty acids.

Why Osteoporosis Medication, Milk Consumption and Other Conventional Wisdom May Look Better Than They Are

There are two types of cells we need to know about: Osteoblasts make bone and osteoclasts resorb or take away bone. Medications like Fosamax interfere with the osteoclasts, which creates the appearance of bone not going away. Dead bone debris is not removed, so weaker and more brittle bone remains in the place of healthy new bone. But the bone looks thicker.

Cow's milk does contain a lot of calcium, but it is not easy for us to get calcium out of cow's milk and put it into our own skeletons. How does a grown cow create strong enough bones to support her 1200-1600 pound weight? By eating vegetation, not by drinking milk!

Our seminar covered a lot of important health information besides calcium-related issues. We also talked about digestion, sugar, weight, allergies, minerals and many other critical health factors. We spent a lot of time covering reasons for recurring spinal and pelvic misalignment, and how to handle them nutritionally.

George Bernard Shaw also said, "Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." You are creating the body now that you'll be spending the rest of your life with! Will that body be strong and healthy enough to serve you as time goes on?

Please let me know if the kind of material I've covered here is of interest to you. Would you like to know more about the simple measurements we can do to help you live a healthy and comforable life? Write to me here. Testing know-how is the key to helping you find your way through the health maze.

If you have symptoms, it's not necessarily such a bad thing! Those symptoms can guide us toward understanding your condition and finding solutions for you. I'll always be glad to discuss any aspect of your health situation with you, and either help you personally or refer you to someone else who can.

Thanks, as always, for reading what I write and recommending my services.

Yours in and for good health,

Stuart C. Marmorstein, D.C., D.B.C.S.
