Happy Halloween

This Halloween the most popular mask is
the Arnold Schwarzenegger mask. And the best
part? With a mouth full of candy you will sound
just like him.
~ Conan O'Brien
The "Old Salt" pictured here is actually a very expressive dog masquerading as a sea captain. Halloween is a celebration of fantasy and imagination. Those of us who participate "become" something or someone we're not--for a little while, at least. Do we want to be scary, silly or seductive? Or perhaps just weird?
The armchair philosopher in me has always pondered the question of what is real, versus what merely appears to be real. This issue has totally shaped the way I evaluate and treat my patients. (For an in-depth report on what I look for when I examine a new patient, go to http://www.drstuart.net/headtofoot.pdf and find out how different my approach is compared with whatever else you may be used to. There is no charge for the report, so you can send either this newsletter or the link to anyone you know.)
How can patients get quick results with fibromyalgia, knee pain and other problems that seem to be as difficult to get rid of as mosquitos in summer or political ads this time of year? To answer this, we have to strip away the Halloween mask and find out what is really going on underneath.
What if the sore muscles of the fibromyalgia sufferer have been straining for years because they are cut off from the energy they need to work right? If we could just reconnect them to the blood supply and brain circuitry they need to get back in the game, they could easily recover!
Humor me and try a quick experiment: Take the fingertips of both hands and touch the inside and outside of your knee joint. Roughly estimate the distance between your fingertips. Now move your hands up to the top of your thigh. Can you touch your thumbs together in the front of your thigh and the middle fingers in the back of your thigh? Didn't think so. What you are trying to surround there is a thick mass of muscular tissue that could be helping to support the knee joint below. I can test people with knee problems to find out which muscles are able to offer support to the knee joint, and which ones are not. Someone without knee problems will have every muscle working. Someone with knee problems may only have a few muscles working. It is that clear cut.
If you do an online search for fibromyalgia or for knee pain, I can already tell you what you will find. The people wearing the most expensive doctor costumes want to put drugs in your trick-or-treat bag if they think you have fibromyalgia. If they think you have knee pain, they want to carve your knee up like a Jack-o-Lantern.
I'm not saying that everything is black and white, and that my approach helps everyone, everytime; or that there aren't some people who are so far gone that arthroscopic surgery or knee replacement is their only option. I WILL say that when I searched my own patient data last month, I found 609 people that I could help who complained of knee pain. Some of these people had already had knee surgery, too.
A patient of mine from Mexico will be bringing more of her family back to see me around Christmas time. Her fibromyalgia symptoms are practically gone after just a few visits. Two of her grandchildren (twin babies) are both noticeably calmer and more normally active after each received only one Bio Cranial correction. Their mother and father are also better. Could your family also benefit from a little of the right kind of TLC?
Nobody is fooled by a dog in a sailor outfit, but lots of people are tricked every day by highfalutin' sounding diagnoses and by treatments that only mask symptoms while the real condition deteriorates. Thank goodness you're smarter than that!
Read the Vitality Journal Online
The Vitality Journal is a great resource for information on natural health and healing. It is now available online at no cost. Full of thought-provoking articles on a wide range of subjects (and even recipes), you owe it to yourself to visit. My first article was published in the October edition at http://www.vitalityjournal.info/index_files/thetrainersroom_oct08.htm. From that article, you can browse the rest of the issue and previous issues that are archived on the website. As many of you know, I am a Senior Bio Cranial Instructor, and am one of eight practitioners given the designation D.B.C.S. (Diplomate Bio Cranial System). In the next few weeks, I'll be offering two advanced review classes to doctors trained in this health care approach.
Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule Change
This year, Thanksgiving Day falls on Thursday, November 27. My office will be closed that day and on Friday so that the staff can enjoy the long holiday weekend. To accommodate my patients and their out-of-town relatives who may be visiting or returning home from school, I will be seeing patients on Monday, November 24 through Wednesday November 26 that week. Please book early for that week to avoid disappointments.
November 11 Public Talk
Gail Brittain has told me that I can invite my readers to attend a talk I am giving to the Lone Star Dowsers on Tuesday, November 11. The talk starts at 7:30 pm upstairs at HEB Central Market (Westheimer and Wesleyan). Only nice and curious people may check out this meeting. To be nice, let me know that you're interested in attending so I can give Gail an idea of how many people to expect. Curious about what I might say or do? There's only one way to find out. Think I'll call the talk, "How to Support Your Health Without Wasting a Bunch of Time and Money."
I'm giving another talk on Monday, but that one is for a private group at a secret, undisclosed location. Let me know if you'd like to sponsor one of those.
WARNING: I might take your picture!

Just be yourself, and tell it like it is!
If you ever venture into my office with awe-inspiring news about how well your body has responded to our healing work together, I may be forced to take your picture with my iPhone for use with a testimonial for my website or this newsletter...or even both!
Many of you would never have gotten up the nerve to see me professionally if it hadn't been for reading someone else's story of recovery at http://www.drstuart.net/testim.htm, or elsewhere on my website. Wouldn't you like to spare someone all of the misery you've gone through by simply telling the truth?
If you are camera-shy, we can just print your story. If you just want to tell me what got better for you, I'll be glad to help you rustle up some words. Those of you who have already given me pictures know who you are.
Thank you for being your own sweet self, and practice being well,
Stuart C. Marmorstein, D.C., D.B.C.S.
